Collecting water from thin air

With over one billion people around the world lacking access to safe water, it would be nice if we could just pull water out of thin air. That was the approach that Dr. Kai Tiedemann and Anne Lummerich have taken in the rugged terrain of Lima, Peru.

Water collects on fog catchers

This drenched duo, with the support of National Geographic and Bayer have created incredibly effective plastic “fog catchers” in one of the driest districts in the world. This system provides local residents with hundreds of gallons of water daily during the winter months.
